Truffle hunting is a special experience for anyone who wants to spend time in nature, meet working truffle dogs and see what a truffle search looks like. The tour takes place in the woods beneath Velebit, at an easy pace and with the hosts.
During the walk we follow the dogs, explain how they search for truffles and show what makes good terrain. The visit suits couples, families, smaller groups and guests looking for something different from a classic excursion.
Note
Truffles depend on season and terrain.
A find cannot be guaranteed, but the search with the dogs, time in the woods and return to the farm make the experience interesting even when nature does not reveal everything that day.

How the tour works
A simple trip into the woods with hosts and truffle dogs.
The tour is arranged in advance, according to the date, weather and group size. Everything happens calmly and without rushing, so guests can enjoy nature and the dogs at work.

Arrival at the farm
We welcome you at the farm, introduce ourselves and briefly explain how the tour will work. Then we head towards the woods.

A walk with truffle dogs
In the woods we follow the dogs as they search the ground. The hosts explain how the dogs work, how a promising scent is recognised and why patience matters.

The truffle search
If the dogs find a truffle, we show how it is taken out and handled. If there is no find, the tour is still a beautiful walk through the woods and an introduction to this special work.
IV
Return to the farm
After the walk we return to the farm. By arrangement, the visit can end with homemade juice, seasonal bites or a tasting of homemade products.

Truffle dogs
The dogs do the main part of the search.
Truffle dogs are trained to search for the scent of truffles in the soil. During the tour, guests can see how the dogs search the terrain, how they react when they sense something and how important the bond between dog and handler is.
Because the dogs are working, tours are best in smaller groups. That way everyone can see what is happening, while the dogs have enough space to work calmly.

How to prepare for truffle hunting
The tour takes place in nature, so it is best to come in comfortable clothes and footwear for the woods. If the weather is not suitable, we arrange another date together.
